Malik Haig and Carol Hart

Sustain Ability NH LLC is owned by Malik Jeff Haig and Carol Hart, who live in the Lakes Region. Malik is the day-to-day manager of the store.

Malik Haig has long been interested in sustainability and environmental issues. While living in Eugene, Oregon in the late 1970’s he first began recycling his trash. While living in Keene, NH in the mid-1980’s he worked in the mental health field and was very active in the local Peace and Justice community. He moved to Iowa in the 1990’s and got a Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the University of Iowa – originally inspired by Roger Walsh’s book “Staying Alive: The Psychology of Human Survival”.  After teaching at several colleges for a number of years, Malik was drawn back to New Hampshire where he reconnected with, and recently married, Carol, a long-time friend.

Carol Hart is a licensed clinical social worker who has a private practice in Tilton, NH.  Carol has also pursued a life long interest in spirituality, alternative healing methods, and living in balance on the Earth.  She moved to the Lakes Region two years ago to be closer to her spiritual community and to her parents, who are residents of the Taylor Community in Laconia.  She has a strong affinity for the Lakes Region, given that she has summered on Lake Kanastka since before her birth!
